Elks Carnival 1921?
|
|
Good food – good carnival! Great food – great sales! No word on who Gertie was, but her crew (Elk wives?) seems to be having fun in their silly hats. There is only one male Elk in the kitchen, noticeable for his white shirt and dark tie. The bunting fronting the booth repeats the BPOE flag. This may be the design of the service flag carried by 616 members in parades like the 1918 Red Cross parade. Just how silly would YOU act to raise funds for Elks charity? Check out the ladies at the Peanut Booth! Photo Hawaii State Archives.
